IFPRI’s Ghana Strategy Support Program, and the School of Public Health, University of Ghana, will co-host a stakeholder meeting on July 3, 2018 in Accra to deliberate on the multisectoral contributions towards transforming nutrition outcomes in Ghana. This event will present initial findings from two new research initiatives in Ghana: Leveraging Food Systems for Nutrition and Stories of Change in Nutrition. The initiatives examine what has worked to improve food security and nutrition over the past decade, and identify what it will take to sustain progress in the future, seeking stakeholder feedback on our progress and plans.
Under IFPRI’s Transform Nutrition West Africa initiative, the University of Ghana School of Public Health is leading the Stories of Change in Nutrition study aimed at capturing experiential knowledge from those involved in nutrition-relevant policy and program implementation. Leveraging Food Systems for Nutrition is a new multidisciplinary study being implemented by IFPRI-Ghana, applying the Value Chains for Nutrition diagnostic tool. The study will work to unpack the complex drivers of improved diets to yield concrete multisectoral policy options for leveraging past successes and accelerating further progress towards improving diets and ending hunger and undernutrition.
Key stakeholders from government, private sector, civil society, academia, and development partner organizations across sectors and disciplines will be invited to attend. Attendees will learn more about these new initiatives, engage in discussions, and provide insights to guide the work moving forward.
